India’s cricket captain, Rohit Sharma, expressed his worry about the deteriorating weather conditions in Mumbai ahead of their crucial 2023 Cricket World Cup match against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium. Sharma shared an aerial view of a hazy Mumbai skyline on his Instagram story, questioning, “Mumbai, yeh kya ho gaya (Mumbai, what’s happened)?”

The air quality index (AQI) in Mumbai has been a topic of concern over the past few weeks, reaching a “moderate” level at 161, according to the CPBC. Areas like Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) recorded an alarming AQI of 257, while Sion registered 218. An AQI below 50 is considered good, under 100 is satisfactory, and between 101 and 200 is moderate, with ratings over 201 deemed poor.

India, currently leading the 2023 World Cup points table with six wins, is the only unbeaten team in the tournament. Their upcoming match against Sri Lanka on November 2 in Mumbai is closely followed by games against South Africa on November 5 and Netherlands on November 12, concluding the league stage.
