The ODI World Cup 2023 saw a total of 12,50,307 fans witnessing the match live from the stadium, breaking all previous records for spectatorship. The tournament held in India surpassed the prior mark of 1,016,420 spectators that was observed at the 2015 event in Australia and New Zealand.

The record was made during the group stage match between South Africa and Afghanistan, which crossed the one millionth spectator mark. The final was attended by nearly 90,000 fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Australia lifted the ICC trophy for the sixth time after defeating India by six wickets. India, which stood dominant in the entire tournament, was unable to claim the title at their home ground.

However, it was not just the spectatorship record that came from this tournament; it also achieved the most broadcasting and digital viewership ever.
