Team England have been able to cross 400 runs with the help of Ben Stokes’ 120 off 128 balls in the second test against West Indies.
Stokes soared to new heights during the game, hitting a variety of shots. Stokes was cautious at the start of his innings, just hitting drives and the occasional cut off Jayden Seales and Kemar Roach. In the 107th over, he absolutely battered the spinner Veerasammy Permaul for a four and a six, signalling a shift in his game. He celebrated his fifty in style, skipping down the track and launching Permaul over the city limits. When the ace all-rounder goes for the straight boundaries, it usually means he is in good form.
A standing ovation greets Stokes as he exits the stage! The England all-adventurous rounder’s knock came to an end. Stokes tried to flay it over the covers for a hat-trick of sixes with a short, fast and into the pitched ball. At this time, he gets the timing wrong. Brooks completes a simple catch at long-off with more height than distance.
