Chennai Super Kings’ new recruit Aman Khan found himself in the spotlight for an unwanted reason after conceding the most runs ever in a men’s List A match during a Vijay Hazare Trophy game between Puducherry and Jharkhand.

Puducherry captain and all-rounder Aman Khan finished with figures of 1 for 123 in 10 overs, recording the most expensive spell in men’s List A cricket history. The match was played in Ahmedabad, where Jharkhand posted a massive 368 for 7, riding on a century from Kumar Kushagra and a 98 from Anukul Roy.

Despite the expensive spell, Aman was one of only three Puducherry bowlers to complete his full quota of ten overs, ending with an economy rate of 12.30. Puducherry were later bowled out for 235 in 41.4 overs, losing the match comfortably.

The previous record for conceding the most runs in a men’s List A match was held by Mibom Mosu of Arunachal Pradesh, who gave away 116 runs in nine overs against Bihar earlier in the same tournament.

Aman Khan began his List A career with Mumbai in 2021 before switching to Puducherry, where he currently serves as captain. A batting all-rounder by role, Aman has also featured in the Indian Premier League.

He made his IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022, later represented Delhi Capitals in the 2023 season, and was most recently picked up by Chennai Super Kings at the IPL 2026 auction for Rs 40 lakh.

While the record is an unfortunate one, Aman Khan remains a recognised domestic all-rounder and is expected to be part of CSK’s wider squad plans heading into the next IPL season.
