Kuldeep’s four-wicket haul turned the game on its head as Pakistan collapsed from 113/2 to under 150, with their last eight wickets adding just 33 runs – their lowest tally in men’s T20Is. His performance not only sealed the final but also cemented his record as the leading wicket-taker in Asia Cup history with 36 scalps, surpassing Lasith Malinga’s 33.
India’s chase wasn’t straightforward, losing three wickets for just 20 runs. But Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 69* held the innings together, steering India to victory in what became their second-highest successful chase after a top-order collapse. India’s dominance over Pakistan in T20I chases now stands at a perfect 9-0 record.
For Pakistan, Sahibzada Farhan stood tall with 57, including three sixes off Jasprit Bumrah — the most by any batsman against the Indian pacer. But his dismissal triggered a collapse that swung the final in India’s favour.
Kuldeep’s spell, where three wickets came in a single over, echoed the impact of Rashid Khan, the only bowler with more such feats in men’s T20Is. The win further highlighted India’s balance — their batting depth anchored by Tilak, and their bowling spearheaded by Kuldeep and Bumrah.
India’s unbeaten campaign ended with a 5-wicket win and a strong statement: while batsmen light up the scoreboard, it’s bowlers like Kuldeep Yadav who deliver the trophies.
