Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has made an unplanned return to India due to a family emergency. Kohli, a key player in the Indian squad, had initially traveled to South Africa for the upcoming two-Test series set to kick off on December 26.
Despite this unforeseen development, cricket authorities assure that Kohli is expected to rejoin the team before the commencement of the first Test.
In a parallel setback for the Indian team, batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has been sidelined from the two-Test series. Gaikwad’s exclusion is a consequence of a fractured ring finger sustained during an attempt to take a catch in the second ODI against South Africa earlier this week.
This two-Test series holds significance as part of the World Test Championship cycle, and the Indian team will need to recalibrate its strategy in light of these unexpected developments.
