Virat Kohli dropped, Ashwin comes-in, India announce squad for 5 T20I against West Indies

India have left out Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah from their T20I squad against the West Indies. They have also recalled R Ashwin

India has dropped former captain Virat Kohli from the 20-over series against West Indies in July 2022. Rohit Sharma, who is on rest for the ODIs against the West Indies, the Indian selectors have announced that he’ll return to lead India’s T20I team. KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav both may be play but only subject availability due to fitness.

Since the IPL, Virat Kohli has not played the T20I series against South Africa and Ireland. Although he was included in the Test squad to play England, Kohli was rested for the first T20I against South Africa. Before jumping back in for the remaining two games of this series

Kohli was also excluded from the England ODI due to a leg injury.

It’s not uncommon for players to be benched temporarily so that they can examine problems with their form and find solutions. However, whether or not a player recuperates their form is often dependent on when they have been in the game.
