India captain Virat Kohli on Sunday added another feather to his already-illustrious cap as he became only the 3rd captain to score 12,000 runs in international cricket across formats during the ongoing second T20 international against England in Ahmedabad.
Virat Kohli became the first Indian cricketer to score 12000 international runs as captain. When he crossed the 17-run mark in the second T20I against England in Ahmedabad, he reached the milestone. Kohli needed just 17 runs before this game to reach the landmark which he did in the 5th over of India’s innings.
Kohli became the 3rd captain after Australian great Ricky Ponting and South Africa legend Graeme Smith to breach the 12,000-run mark in international cricket. Only former Australian captain Ricky Ponting (15440) and South Africa legend Graeme Smith (14878) had achieved this milestone before Kohli.
