Cricket Australia has given the nod for Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne to participate in the Brisbane Heat’s BBL season opener against the Melbourne Stars on December 7.
This decision comes in the wake of the Heat losing four players to Prime Minister’s XI duties. The availability of Khawaja and Labuschagne adds star power to the opening match, and there’s a possibility they might also feature in the Heat’s second game on December 9 in Adelaide.
However, the final call on their participation in the latter game could depend on the players themselves, with the Heat prioritizing their preparation for the upcoming Test against Pakistan on December 14.
Brisbane Heat CEO Terry Svenson expressed delight at having both players on board for the BBL kick-off, highlighting their remarkable performances in recent cricketing events.
