Simmons brings a wealth of coaching experience to the team, having previously served as the coach of the West Indies national team. He has also had a successful stint in the CPL, winning the title with the Barbados Royals (formerly known as Barbados Tridents) in his most recent coaching assignment.

Having recently coached the Dubai Capitals in the inaugural season of the International League T20, where he guided the team to the playoffs, Simmons is eager to take on the role of head coach for the Trinbago Knight Riders.

His appointment has been welcomed by the team’s captain, Kieron Pollard, who is excited about the chemistry and partnership they have developed while working together on the international stage.

Simmons’ coaching experience extends beyond the West Indies, as he has also worked with teams such as Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Afghanistan. The CPL 2023 season is set to commence on August 16, with the Trinbago Knight Riders playing their first match against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on August 19.
