Oval Invincibles Women made a cautious start after choosing to bat first against Northern Superchargers Women in the 25th match of The Hundred Women’s Competition 2025 at Headingley, Leeds. At the end of 49 balls, they reached 45 for the loss of three wickets.

Paige Scholfield was the first to depart for a duck, dismissed by Grace Ballinger on just the second ball she faced. Alice Capsey provided some early momentum with a brisk 12 off 12 deliveries, including two boundaries, before falling to Kate Cross. Marizanne Kapp struggled to settle, scoring 6 from 11 balls, and was sent back by Annabel Sutherland. Skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill remained unbeaten on 5 off 6 balls, alongside Meg Lanning who looked steady on 15 from 19 deliveries with one four and one six.

The Superchargers’ bowlers kept things tight, with Grace Ballinger, Kate Cross, and Annabel Sutherland picking up a wicket apiece. Ballinger conceded just 14 runs in her 15-ball spell, while Cross gave away 10 runs in 14 balls. Nicola Carey was also economical, conceding only 4 runs in her five deliveries.

With just 45 runs on the board and three key wickets already down, Oval Invincibles will look towards their middle and lower order, including Joanne Gardner and Amanda-Jade Wellington, to stabilise the innings.
