The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not finalised any plan yet for a victory parade to celebrate the Indian women’s cricket team’s historic ICC Women’s World Cup triumph. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the update while speaking to IANS on Monday.

India ended their wait for a maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title with a memorable 52-run win over first-time finalists South Africa in the summit clash. However, fans waiting for a celebratory parade will have to wait a little longer, as senior BCCI officials are currently travelling for ICC meetings in Dubai from November 4 to 7.

“Nothing like a victory parade is planned as of now,” Saikia said before departing from Mumbai airport. “I’m leaving for Dubai to attend the ICC meeting. Several officials are heading there as well, so once we return, we will plan accordingly.”

Saikia also said that reclaiming the Asia Cup trophy remains a key agenda for the board during the ICC meetings. India had refused to accept the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup trophy from ACC chairman and Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi after beating Pakistan by five wickets in the final on September 28 in Dubai, citing diplomatic concerns. As a result, the team celebrated without a physical trophy or medals.

“We will take up the Asia Cup trophy matter with the ICC and hopefully get our trophy back with the respect and honour it deserves,” he added.

The BCCI has already written to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) regarding the matter, and is awaiting a resolution.
