Lahiru Thirimanne, the talented top-order batter, has officially bid farewell to international cricket, culminating a successful 13-year career. The announcement was made on his Facebook page, where he expressed gratitude to the cricketing fraternity and his supporters throughout his journey.

Thirimanne’s cricketing journey began in the 50-over format against India in Mirpur, where he showcased his talent with significant achievements, including a memorable century against Australia in Adelaide in 2013 and being part of the T20 World Cup-winning squad. He notably excelled during Sri Lanka’s triumphant Asia Cup campaign.

In 2015, Thirimanne enjoyed a stellar run, amassing 861 runs in ODIs, including a century in the World Cup. In Test cricket, he recorded three centuries, with his final one achieved against Bangladesh in 2021.

With an impressive record of 44 Tests, 127 ODIs, and 26 T20Is, Thirimanne leaves behind a remarkable legacy of 2088 Test runs, 3194 ODI runs, and 291 T20I runs.
