Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board said on Friday that Sri Lanks’s data analyst GT Niroshan has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the limited-overs series against India, after batting coach Grant Flower tested positive for the virus. The batting coach is being treated as per the medical protocols.

The board stated, “The data analyst of the Sri Lanka National Team, GT Niroshan, has tested positive for COVID-19. He was found positive, following a PCR Test carried out among the national players, coaches, and support staff yesterday, following the identification of Grant Flower as positive for COVID-19. Niroshan is now undergoing due medical protocols.”

All other players who are quarantining have are also tested. Before the team tested negative, they were anxious to wait for the PCR Test results while returning home after a COVID-19 outbreak in the England squad. The team will now face India in a six-match white-ball series starting from July 13.

The batting coach Grant Flower is currently in strict isolation from the rest of the squad which is undergoing hard quarantine on arrival. Also, inquiries are going on whether the Sri Lankan players breached the COVID-19 protocols in the UK during the tour. After losing the series against England, Sri Lanka will hope to perform better and give India a fair fight.
