It will be the third time that India will host the pink-ball Test after playing the inaugural Pink ball Test match against Bangladesh in November 2019 which was followed by playing a match in Ahmedabad against England in February 2021.

Ganguly also confirmed that the 2022 IPL edition will be held in India unless there is a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country this year, and looking at hosting the matches in Maharashtra preferably. Mumbai and Pune are the two possible venues and will take a call on the venues for the knock stage matches later.

He also said that the women’s T20 challenge will be held in May this year and would like to expand the women’s IPL once the number of women players goes up. But this year’s tournament will take place during the IPL playoffs.
