Sourav Ganguly confirms venue to host the pink-ball Test against Sri Lanka

The BCCI president confirms Bengaluru will be the venue for the pink-ball Test against Sri Lanka in early March.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly confirmed on Thursday that the two-match Test series between Sri Lanka and India will have a pink-ball Test which will be held in Bengaluru.

After the ODI and T20 series against West Indies which comes to an end on 20th February, India will host the Lions for a three-match t20 series which will be followed by a Test series which has two matches to be played out of which one will be a pink-ball Test which will end in early March.

“Yes, the pink ball Test will be happening in Bengaluru,” said the BCCI president and added by saying that the board has not yet decided on the venues of the Sri Lanka series but will be announced shortly. (Source Sportstar)

It will be the third time that India will host the pink-ball Test after playing the inaugural Pink ball Test match against Bangladesh in November 2019 which was followed by playing a match in Ahmedabad against England in February 2021.

Ganguly also confirmed that the 2022 IPL edition will be held in India unless there is a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country this year, and looking at hosting the matches in Maharashtra preferably. Mumbai and Pune are the two possible venues and will take a call on the venues for the knock stage matches later.

He also said that the women’s T20 challenge will be held in May this year and would like to expand the women’s IPL once the number of women players goes up. But this year’s tournament will take place during the IPL playoffs.
