Southern Brave and Indian Women’s team batsman Smriti Madhana has ruled herself out for the rest of the Women’s Hundred tournament to spend some time with her family ahead of the upcoming tour with Australia. Smriti will now return home before she joins the Indian squad later for the tour of Australia.
Smriti Madhana played a vital role for Southern Brave as proved to be one of the most dangerous batsmen to ever play within the Women’s Hundred competition as she kept performing consistently to bring her team to the final, as she was showered by love and appreciation by fans all around the world. She also featured in all the seven matches that the club has played so far in the competition.
Her last performance was against Welsh Fire as she scored a fighting 78 runs off 52 balls on Wednesday, as she was awarded Man of the Match for her exceptional performance with the bat. Her half-century also helped Southern Brave defeat their rivals by 39 runs to take the top step in the group standings. The Indian batswoman has aggregated 167 runs in seven innings at an average of 27.83, throughout the Women’s Hundred competition. She also hit 7 fours and 3 sixes in her match-winning knock.
The Indian Batsman star performed exceptionally well with the willow during her long stay in the United Kingdom against the England Women’s Team. Smriti also carried her form to Women’s Hundred 2021 and played her part in Southern Brave’s journey to the final. She now gears herself in action down under when she dons the Indian Jersey to playing arch-rivals Australian Women.
A training camp for Indian Women’s cricketers started in Bangalore two days ago ahead of the big series against Australia Women. Madhana will join the training camp soon after spending time with her family.
