KL Rahul-led team India was fined for the slow over-rate in the last ODI played against South Africa. 40 per cent of the match fee was fined and deducted as stated by ICC on Monday.
Andy Pycroft was the match referee in the 3rd ODI, and according to him team India was short of two overs as per the time allowed for one inning. Taking into consideration all the aspects, Andy and ICC stated that KL Rahul-led team India will be fined 40 per cent of their match fees.
ICC quoted in the statement that according to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, relating to minimum notice over-rate issues. And according to the particular Article, players are fined 20 per cent of their match for every over their side failed to complete in the allotted time.
Skipper Rahul agreed and apologized for the offence and also accepted the ICC’s proposal of deducting 40 per cent of their match fees. The charge fined was statistically advised by the on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Bongani Jele, third umpire Allauhudien Palekar and fourth umpire Adrien Holdstock.
India lost the 3rd ODI, losing the series by 0-3. The last ODI had a nail-biting end with South Africa winning by just 4 runs as Deepak Chahar’s innings went in vain. India must surely be thinking about the whitewash loss and might try changes for better consistent performance of the team.
