On Friday in the second divisio of the County Championship at Hove, Cheteshwar Pujara scored a century for Sussex on his full-time county captaincy debut against Durham. Sussex were 91 for 4 at a point but captain Pujara smashed an amazing century.
In the third session of the first innings on day 2, Pujara, who had come in at number four with the score at 44 for two in the tenth over, smashed 100 runs off 133 balls. It was Pujara’s 57th century in First-Class cricket over the course of a 246-match career. With an average of over 51, Pujara has amassed more than 18000 runs in the format.
Pujara is playing for Sussex in the English First-Class competition for the second straight year. After being cut from the Indian Test squad, Pujara accumulated a staggering 1094 runs in 13 innings at an average of 109.40, with five hundreds.
