The Indian Premier League officially announced on Thursday that all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been traded to Mumbai Indians (MI) from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for his existing player fee of Rs 2 crore.
According to the IPL media advisory issued on November 13, 2025, the Mumbai-born all-rounder will return to his home franchise after spending one season with Lucknow Super Giants. Shardul was earlier picked by LSG as an injury replacement for the 18th edition of the league, where he featured in 10 matches.
During his stint, Shardul delivered multiple clutch performances — a trait that has made him a valuable utility player across teams he has represented over the years.
The franchise-to-franchise trade sees him move back to Mumbai Indians ahead of the next season, strengthening MI’s all-round options.
More updates on squad combinations and further trades are expected as teams prepare for IPL 2026.
