Shakib Al Hasan wins ICC Men’s & Stafanie Taylor Women’s player of the month for July

ICC announces men’s and momen’s player of the month award. Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan wins the men’s and Stafanie Taylor wins the women’s award for July 2021.

ICC announced the men’s and women’s player of the month award on Wednesday. Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladeshi all-rounder won the men’s category whereas Stafanie Taylor of West Indies won the women’s category award for July 2021. However, some say there’s no surprise to see Shakib Al Hassan winning this award as he performed very well in July. Bangladesh had a series against Zimbabwe, where Shakib was the stand-out performer.

“It is very humbling to be voted ICC Men’s Player of the Month for July 2021,” Shakib told ICC. “There have been many outstanding performances during the month and that is why this is special for me,” he added after being named ICC men’s player of the month.

Shakib has emerged as one of the greatest all-rounders in recent years. He was also named as the best all-rounder in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.  He scored two centuries for his country in the World Cup. Bangladeshi scored 145 runs and not only this he also took 8 wickets and helped his team get the series win over Zimbabwe. He was nominated along with Australia’s Mitchell Marsh and West Indies’s Hayden Walsh Jr who also had an amazing July.

The women’s category has won by West Indies’s captain Stafanie Taylor, who was the stand-out performer in the West Indies’s series against Pakistan. With an amazing strike rate of 79.18, she scored 175 runs in 4 ODI’s. She also showed her class with the ball by taking 3 wickets with an economy of just 3.72 in ODI’s and 4 wickets in T20’s.
