Sanju Samson likely to miss Asia Cup 2023 camp amidst uncertain inclusion in squad

Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan Royals wicketkeeper, is expected to miss the Asia Cup 2023 camp scheduled at the National Cricket Academy from 24th August. The camp serves as preparation for the Indian players who will represent the country in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.

Samson will join the camp only if he gets picked for the Asia Cup squad. Currently, there is uncertainty surrounding his inclusion in the squad due to the presence of designated keeper KL Rahul. Samson’s participation in the Ireland T20 series and the subsequent need for rest are also factors impacting his availability.

On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah, returning from injury, will lead a second-string team to Ireland and will join the NCA Camp for the Asia Cup after a two-day break.
