Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s excitement took center stage during the World Cup encounter against New Zealand. The incident occurred when bowler Jasprit Bumrah delivered a length ball angling in from round the wicket to Ravindra, resulting in the ball thudding off the pads towards the leg side.
However, it was Rohit Sharma’s intuition that led him to believe there was a chance for a successful Decision Review System (DRS) call. Both wicketkeeper KL Rahul and Bumrah were initially hesitant about taking the DRS, feeling uncertain about the legitimacy of the appeal. Despite their reservations, Rohit Sharma’s unwavering confidence in his instincts prevailed, prompting him to opt for the review.

With anticipation hanging thick in the air, the DRS process unfolded on the field. The replay, however, dashed the hopes of the Indian team as it revealed that the ball was angling well down the leg, rendering the review ineffective. The excitement that had momentarily gripped the team was met with disappointment as the wasted review meant a lost opportunity for India.
