Indian Cricket captain, Rohit Sharma believes that he aims to achieve the ‘team goal’ which is to win the championships.
In a Revsportz interview with journalist Boria Majumder backstage, Rohit Sharma said that when he plays a sport, for him to achieve the best of it is to win the championship. He believes that one can score many runs and centuries but eventually, something that stays with them is the championship as it is a collective effort from the team players.
Rohit’s most important thing is to achieve something as a team than individually. He said that he looks forward to achieving that ‘team goal’ which is to win the championships. Rohit believes that before the arrival of a few new championships, there is a lot of effort that they need to do as a team to win that championship. He is happy that he has the team, players, and support staff that will help them in achieving those goals.
The 34-year-old also believes that with the pursuit to win the Championship, there is a lot of pressure regarding players’ performances and people’s expectations. But one thing that Rohit wants is to remove that pressure from his team players at least by making sure that they get the security and freedom to express themselves.
“We have got nearly about 20 -25 T20’s if I m not wrong, so yeah it’s a handful number of T20s that we will be playing before the World Cup. We’ll have a fair idea about what we need to do as a team to get everything right”, said Rohit to Revsportz.
Today, Rohit starts his captain journey with a win in India’s 1000th ODI match against West Indies by six wickets.
India’s second match against West Indies is on Wednesday, following the last match on Friday.
