A worrying moment for Indian fans unfolded during the 2nd ODI between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval, as Rohit Sharma appeared to injure his right elbow while diving to complete a quick single in the early overs.
The incident occurred around the 2.2 over mark, when Rohit attempted a sharp run and made a full-length dive to beat the throw. He was seen grimacing in pain soon after and holding his elbow as blood was spotted on his shirt. The Indian physio rushed onto the field immediately, and after a brief assessment, heavy taping was applied to his right elbow before play resumed.
Despite the injury, Rohit chose to continue batting, displaying resilience as he fought through discomfort against a fiery Australian attack led by Josh Hazlewood and Xavier Bartlett.
At the time of the injury, India were struggling at 17/2, with both Shubman Gill (9) and Virat Kohli (0) dismissed early — Bartlett claiming both wickets. By the end of the 12th over, India had reached 29/2, with Rohit (19 off 43 balls) holding firm alongside Shreyas Iyer at the crease.
Australia, meanwhile, burned both of their DRS reviews early — both unsuccessfully against Rohit — leaving them without any referrals for the rest of the innings.
As things stand, India will be hoping their captain’s injury does not worsen, especially with a long tour still ahead and the batting lineup already under pressure.
