Ranji Trophy: Sarfaraz Khan shines in the final; likely to get maiden call for Indian team

Young Mumbai player Sarfaraz Khan is in the great form of his life right now, as the 24-year-old once again demonstrated by smashing a magnificent hundred against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy final.

Mumbai’s Sarfaraz Khan is currently having success with the bat and would be one step closer to accomplishing his ambition of playing for India if he is selected for the Indian Test team for the forthcoming tour of Bangladesh.

He has been a prolific run-scorer in the Ranji Trophy for the past two seasons, and after his outstanding 2022 season, he became the buzz of the town. Sarfaraz has so far contributed significantly while playing for Mumbai, scoring more over 900 runs.

With 937 runs from six games at an average of 133.85, the right-hander leads the team in run production. Sarfaraz amassed 928 runs at 154.66 in the last season, including three centuries.

“It’s impossible to overlook him now. His performances are speaking about his huge ability, and putting pressure on many in the Indian team. He will be a certainty when the selectors pick the Indian team for the Bangladesh Test series. He did well for India A last year in South Arica and he’s an excellent fielder,” a reliable source in the BCCI told TOI.
