India has won the ICC U-19 World Cup 2022 after beating England in the finals by four wickets on Saturday at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua. Throughout the tournament, the contribution of several Indian star performers for winning the cup has been immense. But in the finals, one player that showed his outstanding performance which led to winning the trophy was Raj Angad Bawa.

The youngster’s grip with both bat and ball in the U-19 World Cup final made a huge impact in winning the match against England. He smashed 35 runs off 54 balls and took 5 wickets for 31 runs against the English boys. He was also awarded the man of the match for his great performance in the match.

Raj also happens to be the grandson of Tarlochan Singh Bawa, a member of the Indian hockey team that won gold at the 1948 Olympic Games. Like his Grandson, he also made a huge impact for India by scoring two goals in the 1948 London Olympics, one of which came in the final against hosts Great Britain.

Raj is continuing the legacy and making the country proud, the only difference being that he is doing it on Cricket instead of Hockey.

The 19-year-old’s outstanding performance was noticed when he knocked 162* off 108 deliveries in a match against Uganda. Raj has also become India’s second-highest run-scorer in the tournament and the third-highest wicket-taker for the team.
