Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has shared his thoughts on the schedule for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, expressing his excitement about the upcoming tournament.

The event will mark the first time India hosts a 50-over World Cup on its own. Kohli, who captained India in the previous edition, is determined to play a key role in India’s quest to secure an ICC trophy after a decade-long wait.

“Personally, I’m looking forward to playing in Mumbai. It’d be great to experience that atmosphere again,” Kohli told ICC.

He mentioned his anticipation for playing at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which holds a special place in his heart as it was where India won the 2011 World Cup.

“I was quite young then. I saw what it meant to the seniors. I can understand what they went through and how special it is to play a home world cup and how excited they are going to be,” Kohli added.

Kohli also acknowledged the significance of playing a home World Cup, understanding the emotions and excitement that come with representing the country on such a grand stage.
