Pakistan faced consequences for a slow over-rate during the first Test against the Aussies. The visitor team was penalised with a 10% fine of their match fee, coupled with a deduction of 25 ICC World Test Championship points from their total.

Following a significant 360-run defeat in the initial Test, Pakistan had already slid to the No.2 position on the WTC25 standings. The penalty further impacted their standing, reducing their percentage points from 66.67 to 61.11.

As per Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, specifically addressing minimum over-rate offenses, players receive a five percent fine of their match fee for each over their team fails to bowl within the stipulated time.

Furthermore, in accordance with Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions, a team incurs a one-point penalty for every over short. Hence, Pakistan’s total points in the World Test Championship have been diminished by two points due to the slow over-rate penalty.
