The Asia Cup 2025 Group A clash between Pakistan and the UAE in Dubai has been officially declared on after hours of uncertainty. The Pakistan team has left their hotel and is heading towards the Dubai International Cricket Stadium for the fixture.
The confirmation comes after tense negotiations between the ICC and PCB, following Pakistan’s objections to match referee Jeffrey Pycroft. Despite calls for his replacement, the ICC stood firm, warning that Pakistan could face a USD 16 million penalty if they boycotted the match.
With the standoff resolved, the contest is set to get underway, albeit delayed from its original start time of 6:30 PM local (8:00 PM IST). The outcome of this match will decide which team — Pakistan or UAE — joins India in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025.
