Hasan Ali’s stubborn ten-for helped the hosts to resist the Proteas an eventually won series over South Africa for the first time since 2003. The visitors collapsed in front of Hasan’s triggering attack and lost the match by 95 runs. Hasan reduced South Africa from 241/4 to 274/10. They lost the last seven wickets for 33 runs at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Despite the humiliating lost, Aiden Markram might be a consolation for South Africa. Markram notched up his fifth Test century, first since 2018. Markram and Temba Bavuma (61 off 125) shared 106-run-stand for fourth wicket. But their unfortunate dismissals exposed the middle and lower order and bundled out SA 41 minutes before tea on the final day.

South Africa’s captaincy riddle stands as clear as mud. After Faf du Plessis stepped down as the captain, Quinton de Kock was given the role temporarily. He might be relieved from the role after managing to score 74 runs in the four Tests that he played as the captain.
