As they begin their preparation for the 50-over World Cup in India with a string of 50-over assignments in the sub-continent, New Zealand, the top-ranked ODI team, will look to get things going quickly. A three-match ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand will begin on Monday in Karachi. The most recent two-match Test series between the teams ended in a scoreless tie.

With the exception of a defeat by Australia, New Zealand has won up to six ODI series since January 2021 without losing a single series. However, none of these triumphs have come in Asia; New Zealand’s last tour to the region for an ODI series was in 2018, when they drew the 50-over series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates 1-1. Since December 2003, they won’t play an ODI series in Pakistan until now.
