The ICC is currently hosting a workshop in Goa for its media partners from around the world ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023.

The two-day event is being attended by major broadcasters such as Sky from the UK, Fox from Australia, and SuperSport from South Africa, as well as the global rights holder, Disney Star. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss and plan strategies for covering the upcoming tournament in India in October-November.

However, Pakistan’s media partners, PTV and ARY, did not send their representatives for the event, which is not considered a serious concern as they had also missed the last workshop before the previous World Cup (Cricbuzz).

“Only those that intend to do a lot of unilaterals, etc attend. Star invites all licensees. PTV and ARY didn’t want to attend. They didn’t attend last year in the UK either,” said a source in the know, playing down the absence of Pakistan channels. It is a well-documented fact that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are at loggerheads over Pakistan games in the World Cup but the source said the commercial meeting has no connection with the India-Pakistan standoff.

The ICC’s media partners are crucial to the success of the tournament, and the workshop is an opportunity for them to collaborate with the ICC and share their insights, plans, and expectations for delivering high-quality broadcast coverage of the event to millions of cricket fans worldwide.
