
Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar is also known as Master Blaster. The legend had scored 100 international centuries which is an impeccable record. On this day 29th June 2007, Sachin Tendulkar had crossed another milestone of 15,000 one-day international runs. He reached that milestone against the match between South Africa while chasing a target of 227 runs.
India had won the toss and elected to field first. Morne-van-Wyk and AB-de-Villiers had opened the South African innings. Morne-van-Wyk’s 82 runs knock, Jean-Paul (JP) Duminy’s 40 and Mark Boucher’s knock of 55 runs helped South Africa set 227 runs on the board. Team South Africa had scored 226 runs with the loss of six wickets. The Indian team had got a total of 227 to chase in 50 overs.
The current President of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and former captain Saurav Ganguly and Sachin had opened the innings. Sourav Ganguly departed with scoring 42 runs off 75 balls along with three boundaries and one six. But on the other side, the Master Blaster scored brilliant 93 runs off 106 balls along with 13 boundaries and two fours.
On the 31st over the fifth ball, the Master Blaster lost his wicket to Tshabalala. Later on, Yuvraj Singh’s 49 and Dinesh Karthik’s 32 runs chased the target of 227 and India won by six wickets. But Sachin 93 runs knocked crossed 15,000 ODI runs milestone for him.
