The New Zealand Women’s cricket team is gearing up for an exciting challenge as they prepare for their first-ever bilateral series against Sri Lanka Women. The highly anticipated tour is scheduled to kick off on June 27 in Galle and will consist of three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) followed by three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in Colombo.
Led by captain Sophie Devine, the New Zealand squad is filled with experienced players who are eager to showcase their skills on the international stage. Suzie Bates, Bernadine Bezuidenhout, Eden Carson, Izzy Gaze (wicketkeeper), Maddy Green, Brooke Halliday, Fran Jonas, Amelia Kerr, Jess Kerr, Rosemary Mair, Molly Penfold, Georgia Plimmer, Hannah Rowe, and Lea Tahuhu make up the talented group that will represent New Zealand in the series.
The tour schedule promises an action-packed cricketing extravaganza for fans. The first ODI will take place on June 27 at the Galle International Stadium, followed by the second ODI on June 30, and the third ODI on July 3, both at the same venue. After the conclusion of the ODI series, a warm-up T20 match against the Sri Lanka President’s XI is scheduled for July 6 in Colombo. The T20I leg of the tour will commence on July 8 with the first match in Colombo, followed by the second T20I on July 10 and the third T20I on July 12, both at the same venue.
