Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque became the country’s leading Test centurion on Saturday. He scored his 10th Test hundred on Day four of the first Test against West Indies in Chattogram.

This ton helped Haque go past the veteran opener Tamim Iqbal’s record of nine hundreds and become the first Bangladeshi batsman with ten Test hundreds.

Eventually, Haque was dismissed for 115 by Shannon Gabriel. The Bangladesh skipper helped in the fifth-wicket stand of 133 runs with Liton Das as the host’s lead went past 350.

Bangladesh declared their second innings at 223 for 8, leaving West Indies with a target of 395 runs. Earlier, the openers fell cheaply as Bangladesh fell to 33 for 3 before the fifth wicket partnership between Haque and Das.

The host seem dominant in this Test match with Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 103 in the first innings helping them post a total of 430 runs. Miraz’s performed well with the ball also, claiming four wickets as West Indies were restricted to 259.

Apart from becoming the first Bangladesh batsman to register 10 Test centuries, Haque also achieved another unique feat on Saturday.

He became the first cricketer to score his first 10 Test hundreds at home. Coincidentally, seven of his centuries have been scored at the ZAC Stadium in Chattogram. The previous record was held by Allan Lamb, who scored nine hundred in England.

Mominul Haque became the fifth Bangladesh cricketer to score 3,000 runs or more in Tests. After his dismissal, he has 3001 runs to his name with an impressive average of 41.68.
