As the final day of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and Australia unfolds, Mitchell Starc, the Australian pace spearhead, expressed his excitement about the intense battle between the two top teams. Starc highlighted the significance of a final coming down to the wire, presenting a great spectacle for both players and fans alike.

“It’s exciting for us, it’s certainly exciting for the fans. That’s what you want in a final, a good spectacle, two of the best teams, comes down to the last day of this Test match,” Starc remarked.

Reflecting on India’s star batsman, Virat Kohli, Starc acknowledged the challenge of dismissing him but remained confident in Australia’s strong bowling attack. “We have a great attack that can take that wicket (of Kohli), fortunate in the first innings,” he said.

Assessing the pitch, Starc noted that it hasn’t displayed the anticipated tricks and demons, but he believes day five could offer various surprises. “Was a little bit surprising, we can see from the surface that there’s some cracks there. Hope for it to break up a little bit more today, sun’s obviously out,” he explained.

Starc also highlighted the versatility of Australia’s bowling lineup, emphasizing the options provided by Scott Boland, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and himself. With the Duke ball maintaining its condition throughout the day, they can adapt their strategies and bring a variety of challenges to the Indian batsmen.

Regarding Nathan Lyon, Starc recognized the importance of his wicket-taking ability and his role in maintaining control from one end. He acknowledged that Lyon’s contribution, along with that of other bowlers like Ravindra Jadeja, could have a significant impact on the final outcome.
