On the opening day of the IND vs WI 1st Test, India showcased their dominance in the match.
Despite losing the toss, they capitalized on favorable conditions and performed impressively. The West Indies openers were dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin, who continued his excellent form. Alick Athanaze was the top performer for the West Indies, narrowly missing out on a half-century.
However, most of their batsmen struggled and played rash shots. Ashwin claimed another five-wicket haul, supported by Ravindra Jadeja’s three wickets. The West Indies were bowled out for 150 runs.
In response, the Indian openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma, made a solid start, with both players looking ominous. They mixed caution with aggression, taking advantage of the inconsistent West Indies bowling. With India’s strong position, the West Indies face a challenging day in the field ahead.
Ravichandran Ashwin: Thought it was a pretty good performance. There was a bit of moisture on the pitch earlier but it started to spin later. Saw on the TV as well that it turned more later. Had to adapt early. It was a bit dry, have to get the pace right to trouble the batsmen. International cricket is all about adapting to different conditions. With so many leagues around, we can get carried away with a few performances in these leagues but international cricket is different. Jaiswal is a vibrant cricketer, extremely talented. I hope he goes on to do great things in his career. I think we’re going to see some special performances from him.
