RSA vs NED World Cup 2023 Update: Marco Jansen, the skillful bowler representing South Africa, struck a crucial blow against Netherlands’ batsman Nidamanuru. The dismissal came after a close LBW (leg before wicket) appeal, adding to the intensity of the match.
Jansen delivered a cross-seam full ball that proved to be deceptive for Nidamanuru. Attempting to defend, Nidamanuru missed the ball, which hit his back leg, leading to a strong appeal from the South African players. The on-field umpire didn’t hesitate to raise his finger, declaring Nidamanuru out LBW.
However, Nidamanuru, unwilling to accept defeat, decided to challenge the decision and opted for the Decision Review System (DRS). The critical question was whether the ball had pitched in line. Upon review, the UltraEdge technology detected a spike, but it was revealed that the sound came from the bat hitting the ground, not the ball hitting the bat.
The third umpire proceeded to use ball-tracking technology to determine the trajectory of the delivery. The analysis confirmed that the ball had pitched in line and was crashing into the stumps, validating the umpire’s decision. Unfortunately for Netherlands, this marked the loss of their review.
