After a disappointing absence from the IPL 2023 and the World Test Championship Final, Indian cricketers Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are steadily inching closer to a full recovery. Both players underwent surgery to address their back injuries and are currently undergoing rehabilitation at the esteemed National Cricket Academy (NCA). While the upcoming series against the West Indies may come too soon for their return, the cricketing duo is expected to make a comeback in time for the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023.

ESPNCricinfo reports that the medical staff at the NCA is pleased with the progress of Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer’s rehabilitation. There is an optimistic outlook regarding their availability for the Asia Cup, slated to kick off on August 31. Bumrah, who last graced the field during the home T20Is against Australia in September 2022, underwent a crucial back surgery in New Zealand back in March. The report reveals that Bumrah is currently focusing on intensive physiotherapy and has recently commenced light bowling activities. As his recovery progresses, his bowling workload will gradually be increased under careful supervision.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer battled a bulging disc in his lower back, compelling him to sit out the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad earlier this year. In May, Iyer underwent successful surgery in London and is now actively engaged in a rigorous physiotherapy regimen at the NCA to facilitate his rehabilitation process. Both Bumrah and Iyer are currently rehabilitating alongside Rishabh Pant and Prasidh Krishna, forming a supportive environment for their recovery.
