Indian pacer Ishant Sharma who is well known for playing a major role in Test Cricket says he would like to be a part of World Cup Winning Indian side as not so many people follow the Test Cricket.
With this being said he wants to make a comeback in the ODI’s and wants to win a World Cup, Ishant who is considered a vital pillar for Indian bowling in the Test format last played ODI back in January 2016. He has played in a total of 80 ODI’s for Team India with 115 wickets at an average of 30.98, There is no doubting the experience and the attacking options he bring to the team and he has been in a great touch of form in Longest format series.
In an interview with ESPNcricinfo he said ” Obviously i would like to play in the World Cup, I want to be a part of World Cup Winning team, We are playing World Test Championship which is equivalent to Test World cup but you realise not a lot of people follow test cricket, while ODI World cup is widely followed”.
Adding to it he shed a light how captain Dhoni always backed him up no matter what, he said”If am Bowling in India and the Captain tells me to only concede only 40 runs in 20 overs rest the wickets will be taken up by the spinners, thats what is important for me, it doesn’t matter if my average is around 37 my communication will be with my captain and that’s why Dhoni backed me”.
Ishant will now be seen in action the upcoming IPL with Delhi Capitals as their team Captain, the tournament is set to take place in UAE.
