Rebecca Stokell was ruled out of the Ireland Women’s T20 World Cup squad due to injury, and Rachel Delaney was called up. The 25-year-old all-rounder, who has played 10 T20Is, will fly to South Africa to join the squad on Saturday.
Stokell suffered a foot ligament injury and, following a medical examination, it was decided to withdraw her from the tournament, according to a statement issued by Cricket Ireland on Friday.
Carrie Archer, Ireland’s National Selector, said, “We are all devastated for Rebecca and wish her a speedy recovery. Rachel Delaney has been called up – an experienced all-rounder who has been part of recent senior squads. We wish Rachel well as she flies out to join the Irish camp.”
