Royal Challengers Bangalore took on Rajasthan Royals in the 43rd match of IPL 2021, which was played in the Dubai International Stadium.

Rajasthan Royals came into this match to gain two crucial points, which would have helped them climb up on the points table. They had made one change to their line-up, Tabraiz Shamsi was replaced by his fellow South African Chris Morris. On the other hand, RCB wanted to continue its winning ways to consolidate a position in the playoffs.

The toss was won by RCB, and they asked RR to bat first, on what looked like a belter of a pitch, with some great cover of green grass. Rajasthan capitalized on RCB’s mistake and with the help of great innings by Lewis and Jaiswal. Together they added 77 runs for the first wicket. It was in the 9th over, that Jaiswal was dispatched by Dan Christian. Lewis kept up the great show of free-flowing batting, to bring up his flamboyant fifty. RR had managed to score 91 runs in their first 10 overs. However, after the wicket of Lewis, there was a sudden slump in the batting of RR and they collapsed from 100 for 2 to 149 for 9 in almost no time. Except for their openers, none of the batsmen could manage to score past 20 runs. It was the RCB spin attack lead by Chahal that took care of the middle order of RR. Chahal picked up 2 wickets, along with Shahbaz Ahmed, who picked 2 wickets as well. The final blows were provided by the Purple cap holder, as he took 3 wickets in the death overs.

RCB amazingly started the second inning. Their skipper smoked Morris for 3 boundaries in the very first over. Paddikal was also not far behind, as he too played some fantabulous shots to contribute to the opening stand of 48 runs. It was Padikkal who was the first one to go for 22 and was soon followed by his partner Kohli, who could only manage to score 25.

The wicket-keeper Bharat Arun, along with Glenn Maxwell steadied the inning, and together the duo added some 70  odd runs in just 11 overs to take their team to the score of 127 in the 16th over. After the departure of Arun, Maxwell just had to apply the finishing touches, to take RCB past the finishing line. In the process of doing so, he completed his 7000 runs in T20s, and also scored a fast-paced 50 of just 30 balls.

RCB won the match with 7 wickets and 17 balls to spare.
