Stating that Suryakumar is hitting the ball well in the nets and that the team management will continue to support him in the upcoming games, coach Pollard emphasised that even cricket players may have bad days.
On Saturday, April 8, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the 12th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 will pit Mumbai Indians (MI) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In their opening contest, Mumbai was humiliated by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Surya Kumar Yadav, who is currently struggling, will be the centre of attention for MI’s home game against SKY tonight. With an advantage of the home game, SKY might make a dramatic comeback.
Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t been playing at his best lately had three golden ducks in the ODI series against Australia, and only 15 runs from 16 deliveries in MI’s IPL 2023 opener. Despite this, Kieron Pollard, the MI batting coach, believes that the team has no concerns about Yadav’s form and anticipates him to start hitting shortly.
“We have no concerns about Surya’s form, again. I believe you guys make more of it than we do sometimes within the team setup. People have bad days and that is unfortunate as cricketers our bad days are highlighted and we keep speaking on and on about it rather than trying to look at the positive or what he has done over the past 18 months or so in cricket as an individual,” Pollard was quoted as saying by India Today.
