Washington Sundar put on a stunning display of power-hitting as he tore into Simarjeet Singh, collecting 20 runs off the sixth over during Gujarat Titans’ run chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad in match 19 of IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Coming in at a pressure moment, Sundar unleashed his intent immediately. He started the over with back-to-back fours — the first pulled over mid-on and the second swivelled stylishly over mid-wicket. That was just the beginning.

What followed next were two audacious sixes. On ball 5.4, Sundar shuffled across the stumps and lifted the length delivery over fine-leg, getting a thick top edge that sailed over the ropes. Then on the final ball of the over, he capitalized on another short ball, pulling it flat and wide of fine-leg for another six. Simarjeet Singh had no answers, conceding 20 runs in that single over.

At the end of 7 overs, Gujarat Titans were 56/2, with Sundar blazing away on 29 off just 12 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes, striking at 241.67. Alongside skipper Shubman Gill (21* off 18), Sundar had stitched together a rapid 40-run stand off just 19 balls. Gujarat Titans needed 97 more runs from 78 balls to win, cruising at a required run rate of just 7.46.

Sundar’s counterattack has shifted momentum firmly in Gujarat’s favour, leaving Sunrisers Hyderabad with plenty to think about as the chase heats up.
