India batter KL Rahul has officially joined the Delhi Capitals (DC) squad ahead of their high-voltage IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday, March 30. Rahul was away from the team following the birth of his first child with wife Athiya Shetty on March 24 and had missed DC’s previous match against LSG.

Rahul was roped in by DC during the IPL 2025 mega auction for Rs 14 crore after being released by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), where he previously served as captain.

To welcome the new signing, DC released a special video on March 29 across their social media platforms. The emotional montage featured passionate Delhi fans presenting Rahul with the team cap and bat before draping him in the franchise’s flag. The video ended with the cricketer saying, “I’m home”—a nod to his fresh beginning with the Capitals.

Speaking after the auction, Rahul said,

“This is a new experience for me—joining my fourth or fifth IPL franchise. It’s both exciting and nerve-wracking… But looking at our squad and how the management has built this team, we seem to have most areas covered.”

He also praised the mix of youth and experience within the side, highlighting players like Mitchell Starc, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav, with whom he has previously shared the field.

KL Rahul is likely to feature in the playing XI against SRH in Vizag, possibly taking up a new role in the middle order for DC this season.
