Kohli is the leading run-scorer of the tournament and will become the fifth player who will feature in 200 IPL matches. After today he will join the likes of MS Dhoni (212), Rohit Sharma (207), Dinesh Karthik (203) and Suresh Raina (201). Kohli is the only player to have hit over 6,000 runs in the IPL as he racked up 6,076 runs from 191 innings that saw him produce an average of 37.97. He has scored 40 half-centuries and 5 centuries which is the second most number of centuries scored by an individual player in the IPL. Along with his performances for his team, Kohli is the only player to have represented a single franchise since the inaugural IPL edition.
RCB will be seen wearing a blue jersey in today’s clash with KKR to pay tribute to the frontline workers who are fighting against the COVID-19 virus day in and out. The blue jersey will be signed and auctioned after the game to raise funds for vaccines and vaccine drives in India. The jersey colour resembles the colour of the PPE kits that are worn by the frontline workers. This will be the second special jersey worn by RCB after their green jersey that supports the ‘Go Green’ movement.
