Indian pacer, Umran Malik who represents Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL has been retained by the franchise for the upcoming IPL 2022. SRH Captain, Kane Williamson, and Abdul Samad have also been retained by the franchise.

Umran in an exclusive interview with Sports Tak said, “I’m thankful to the franchise for retaining me, and the supporting staff, now our team will become very strong with new players coming up”. He said that he and his family were very on the day when they came to know that Umran has been retained by the franchise.

The right-arm fast bowler was also happy by the fact that his close friend, Abdul Samad has also been retained by the Franchise.

When asked Umran about his spending for the retention money he has received, he replies, “I haven’t thought about anything regarding the spending of money, my main focus is just to play for the country.”

Umran was a net bowler for the team and got a chance to play in the match as a replacement to T. Natarajan who tested positive for COVID-19. Umran shares his experience of playing with great players like David Warner, Kane Williamson, and Rashid Khan. He said that whenever he use to bowl them, they use to reply to his delivery as ‘very quick’. Umran also shares about meeting with his idol, Jasprit Bumrah by asking him how to bowl yorkers.

The right-arm fast bowler also aims to improve his batting and play as an All-rounder for the team. He wants to bat well but believes that his priority is to focus on his bowling and play for India someday.

The 22-year-old was also a part of the squad in the preceding South Africa series and T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE. He was pleasured to share the dressing room with senior players and believes to have learned a lot from them. He feels that it was a proud moment for him as he represented India for the first time.

The IPL 2022 Mega Auction will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru starting from 11 am.
