It was an easy guess but an unfortunate situation for England star Joe Root, who once again went unsold in the IPL 2023 auctions.
Joe Root stepped down as England Test captain earlier this year, and Ben Stokes took over. Root recently expressed interest in participating in the IPL auction to explore more opportunities in limited-overs cricket, and he is one of 27 English players who have registered for the auction.
Interestingly, Root has never played an IPL game in his career, and his name came up during the 2018 auction, where he ultimately went unsold.
Root, on the other hand, last played a T20I for England against Pakistan in 2019, but he has a good record in T20 cricket, scoring 2,083 runs in 88 matches.
