MS Dhoni, the wicketkeeper-batsman for the Chennai Super Kings, will make his 350th T20 appearance against the Punjab Kings tonight, becoming only the second Indian player to do so after Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma(372 matches).
Suresh Raina, a former CSK batsman, is in third place with 336 T20 outings. Two RCB players, Dinesh Karthik(329) and previous skipper Virat Kohli(328), are next on the list.
The Chennai Super Kings will play the Punjab Kings in the 11th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League on Sunday. The CSK have yet to win a game in the competition, having lost both of their matches against the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants. The form of former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, on the other hand, has been a plus for the franchise.
While Dhoni might surpass former CSK captain Suresh Raina if he smashes three sixes on Sunday, Raina could set a new record if he even plays in the match.
Previously, Chennai Super Kings have looked anything like the IPL’s reigning champions, and new captain Ravindra Jadeja will have to improve on numerous fronts against Punjab Kings in order to turn things around.
