Chennai Super Kings CEO KS Viswanathan had earlier announced that Suresh Raina will not be available for the 2020 season of the IPL. The management also mentioned that he returned to India due to “personal reasons” but reports claim otherwise. There have been talks that the CSK batsman had a rift with the management over the hotel room he was given. He was unhappy with the room he was provided and wanted a similar room to the skipper MS Dhoni. CSK owner and former BCCI president N Srinivasan likened cricketers to “prima donnas” but said that Dhoni “was in complete control of the situation”.
He also mentioned that the team is like a family and all the seniors have learnt to co-exist. If the players are not happy or have issues with the arrangements they are very well allowed to go back. He seemed notary happy and also said that sometimes success gets into your head. I spoke to MS (Dhoni) and he has assured me that even if the numbers go up, there was nothing to worry. He spoke to the players through a zoom call and asked them to remain safe. You really don’t know who is a passive carrier,”.
The season is yet to begin and Srinivasan believes that Raina will certainly realise what he is missing and also the money ( 11 Crores per season). CSK has not started training asset as the camp had players and support staff who tested positive for COVID-19. Earlier Suresh Raina reached Delhi and is home quarantined along with his family. He made a statement saying “Nothing more important than kids”.
